The European Diplomatic Training Programme for Directors of Diplomatic Institutes in the European Union has been successfully completed

The European Diplomatic Training Programme for Directors of Diplomatic Institutes in the European Union and 75 young EU diplomats has been successfully completed. Organised in Madrid by the Escuela Diplomatica in cooperation with the EU’s European External Action Service (EEAS) on 23-24 November, the programme covered a wide range of topical issues, such as the economic challenges facing the European Union in the context of the rise of China and Asia, EU-Latin America relations, EU foreign and security policy and other specific topics useful in the training of European diplomats. The programme, entitled “EU Foreign Policy in Action: Promoting Europe’s Interests and Values in the World”, brought together a large number of European ambassadors, including Mr Santiago Miralles (Director of the Diplomatic Institute of Spain), Ms Ulrike Hauer (Director of the Career, Learning and Development Division within the EEAS), Camilo Villarino (Head of Cabinet of Commission Vice-President Josep Borrell).

Romania’s team, as we called it, was made up of three young diplomats from the MFA, Bianca Petre, Irina Mihu and Rareș Eugen Tîrcă, Simona Sora (Director within the EEAS) and Liliana Popescu-Bîrlan (RDI General Director).
