Today, May 21, the Romanian Diplomatic Institute (IDR) hosted, as part of the professional training course “Foreign Policy and Diplomacy”, a lecture given by Doru Costea, former ambassador of Romania to the People’s Republic of China and Mongolia.
An important point of the speech was related to the evolution of the concept of diplomacy. Doru Costea emphasized that diplomacy is no longer the exclusive monopoly of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Today, other institutions and actors – including non-governmental organizations, the private sector and civil society – play an important role in shaping and implementing foreign policy.
In conclusion, Romania’s diplomatic action was discussed, emphasizing the critical stages of our country’s accession to NATO and the European Union.
