The first training day of the “Leadership in Diplomacy and Governance” programm

The first training day of the “Leadership in Diplomacy and Governance” program took place at the “Take Ionescu” Hall of the Romanian Diplomatic Institute (RDI). Organized by RDI together with the Mindfulness Institute, the course is designed for employees with leadership roles in administrative institutions in Romania.

At the opening, the Director General of RDI, Prof. Dr. Liliana Popescu-Bîrlan, spoke about the objective of creating this program, namely to generate an improvement in the quality of leadership and management activities in public institutions. She mentioned that this course, organised for the first time at IDR, will bring an infusion of knowledge and experience from the private sector to state administration institutions.

This was followed by a brief presentation of the structure and agenda of the Leadership in Diplomacy and Governance program by the speakers and trainers who had been invited: Camelia Crișan (PhD lecturer, SNSPA), Adela Iepure (professional coach, ICF accredited) and Mihai Popa Radu (professional coach, ICF accredited).

In the first part of the day, the participants went on a Journey through the world of personal leadership, led by psychologist Adela Epure. In the second part, they followed, under the guidance of trainer Mihai Popa Radu, the evolution of social organization and leadership. The programme, held on 26 April 2023, from 9.00 to 17.00, had a strong interactive focus, so that the audience was permanently involved – and actually contributed – to the program.

Participants included senior officials from key Romanian institutions, including State Counsellors Cătălina Galer and Cosmin-Gabriel Popp; State Secretaries Traian Hristea, Andrei Novac (Ministry of Foreign Affairs/ MFA) and Constantin Ștefan (Ministry of Energy). Among the senior diplomats in the MFA, the following were present: Mădălina Morariu, Elisabeta David, Diana Tase, Eugen Dobreanu, Horia Petrescu, Florin Gherghina, Fabiola Stoi, Katalin Oanță and Alexandra Benea.
