On September the 16th 2020, an online meeting was held between E.S. Gurbangeldiev Jumamyrat Shamyradovich, the rector of the Institute of International Relations under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and Mr. Iulian Fota, Director General of Romanian Diplomatic Institute (IDR). This meeting was also attended by the translator of Rector Shamyradovich from Ashgabat and Mr. Marius Stan, expert within the Expertise Supply Directorate of IDR from Bucharest.
The discussion between the two parties focused on strengthening the collaborative relations between IDR and the Turkmen Institute of International Relations. On this occasion, bilateral relations in the field of education and science were reviewed, as well as a series of joint events which have been successfully conducted and completed in the past. In this context, the Turkmen side formulated some collaboration proposals with IDR:
- the elaboration, in partnership, with some scientific articles on bilateral relations and international relations;
- the starting of bilateral cooperation actions in the field of diplomatic training, starting from the professional experience of both institutes;
- the organization of a joint round table, in an online format, on sharing the scientific and educational experience of the two institutes. At this event, both Turkmen teachers and students would attend, as well as representatives of RDI and the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The general director of RDI, Mr. Iulian Fota, expressed his willingness to continue the collaboration with the Turkmen side on topics of common interest in order to establish, together with its counterpart, the details of the round table.
