Professional Training and Development Program LEADERSHIP IN DIPLOMACY AND GOVERNANCE

General Description of the Program

The program, developed by the Romanian Diplomatic Institute (RDI), aims to enhance the managerial and leadership skills of individuals holding senior positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, public administration at central and local levels, as well as similar leadership roles in state-owned enterprises. It is specifically designed for Secretaries-General, Deputy Secretaries-General, General Directors, Deputy General Directors, Directors, Deputy Directors, Public Managers, and Heads of Departments.

Faced with the multifaceted challenges posed by current regional and global crises, as well as those that may arise in the future, leaders are required to continually adapt and identify appropriate solutions. The rapid pace of social, economic, and technological change, along with shifts in power dynamics, profoundly affects relations between individuals, institutions, and states. This necessitates a flexible and proactive approach from those in leadership positions.

While today’s challenges are unique and complex, leaders have access to established strategies and methodologies that enable them to navigate these situations effectively. This program focuses on exploring and applying such approaches within a contemporary and relevant framework.

Program Objectives

  • Develop effective leadership within Romania’s public administration system.
  • Enhance advanced managerial skills for individuals in leadership roles.

  • Psychological elements in individual and organizational leadership.
  • Group and individual mindsets and their impact on leadership: flexibility in thought and action.

  • Conflict and group dynamics management in workgroups and organizations.

Mindful Leadership

  • Neuroscience.
  • Emotional intelligence and its importance in leadership.
  • Methods and practices for enhancing emotional intelligence.
  • Active listening and dialogue.
  • Understanding and applying mindfulness.
  • Navigating crises and volatile, ambiguous, complex, and uncertain situations.

Leadership in Diplomacy and Governance

Target Audience

The program is tailored for individuals in senior leadership roles within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, central and local public administration, and state-owned enterprises. Eligible participants include Secretaries-General, Deputy Secretaries-General, General Directors, Deputy General Directors, Directors, Deputy Directors, Public Managers, and Heads of Departments.
