Abstract

The interview explores the perspectives of the writer and researcher Liliana Corobca on the concepts of East and West, as well as the role of Romania in relation to the Republic of Moldova, particularly through the lens of literature and culture. Corobca reflects on their interconnectedness rather than antagonism and she highlights the role of Romania as a gateway for Moldovan writers and their literature to the West, noting that while the country provides opportunities for translation and cultural exchange, the dynamics are shaped by political and historical complexities. Lastly, Corobca touches upon the broader context of global changes, particularly the ongoing war in the region, suggesting that Romania could serve as a mediator between East and West considering its unique position at the intersection of these two worlds.
