This article reflects on the challenges faced by the author in her role as the Romania’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, following her appointment in 2021, during a period marked by significant global and regional changes. The ambassador discusses Romania’s evolving relationship with the UK, particularly in the post-Brexit context, and the role of the Romanian diaspora in reshaping perceptions of Romania. She highlights key events, including the visit of King Charles III to Romania and the signing of an upgraded Strategic Partnership agreement. Lastly, the ambassador also explores Romania’s position as a cultural and geopolitical bridge between East and West, as well as the growing importance of Romania’s contributions to UK society, culture and the economy.
