This article discusses the significance of the publication in Romanian of the first two volumes of David Mitrany’s complete works, which not only serve as an intellectual recognition but also contribute to current debates on the challenges facing the international order. In particular, it highlights the impact of Mitrany’s ideas on contemporary international relations, focusing on his “functional approach” to governance and the establishment of peace through transnational cooperation. The article examines the relevance of Mitrany’s work in the context of modern global crises, including Russia's aggression against Ukraine, the rivalry between the United States and China and ongoing regional conflicts. By revisiting his theories, the article underscores the importance of Mitrany’s contributions to understanding and addressing international political dynamics.
