Africa – a new strategic approach in Romania’s foreign policy

The article considers Romania’s evolving diplomatic engagement with emerging global powers, particularly in the Southern Hemisphere, and its efforts to balance traditional alliances with new international opportunities. The paper highlights Romania’s growing involvement in addressing global security issues, including its response to Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, as well as its increasing efforts to strengthen ties with African nations through development assistance, food security initiatives and combating disinformation. Ultimately, the article argues that Romania's diplomatic approach reflects a shift towards a more diversified, global foreign policy while maintaining strong ties with its NATO and EU allies.
