Abstract

This article explores the metaphor "Europe is a garden, the rest of the world a jungle", coined by Josep Borrell during the launch of the European Diplomatic Academy (EUDA) in October 2022. The phrase, controversial for its colonial and eurocentric undertones, reflects Europe’s political, economic, and cultural development. Through this lense, the paper reflects on the academy’s formation, a collaborative initiative aimed at preparing young diplomats from EU and neighbouring countries for global challenges. It highlights the academy's curriculum, designed to enhance diplomatic skills, knowledge, and attitudes, fostering deeper cooperation and regional security. Ultimately, the EUDA is presented as a significant tool in shaping Europe's future diplomatic landscape.
