Abstract

The article highlights the importance of exploring how countries like Singapore and Finland have successfully integrated future-focused planning into their governance structures. The text suggests that Romania should adopt a similar approach to ensure it is prepared for future challenges by having a national "Romania 2040" project to align with European efforts and define Romania's desired role in the evolving geopolitical, economic, and technological landscapes. Moreover, the focus of the plan should be on areas where Romania can excel, such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and biotechnology. The article concludes by stressing the importance of investing in Romanian education and healthcare to ensure a healthy and educated workforce, along with the need for political commitment to a long-term vision, transcending short-term political cycles.
