Abstract

This paper explores the complex and longstanding relationship between Russia and Europe, focusing on historical debates about Russia's place in Europe. From thinkers like Piotr Ceaadaev and Nikolai Danilevski in the 19th century to contemporary discussions, the idea of Russia as either part of Europe or distinct from it has remained central to intellectual discourse. After the Cold War, the establishment of a new world order appeared promising but ultimately failed, with Russia and Europe diverging over issues of security, power, and national interests. This article features Timofei Bordaciov’s analyzes of this failure, examining the conflicting national visions that have shaped current tensions and offering solutions for managing crises, advocating for greater restraint and recognition of a non-divided world order.
