Mărțișor to a LADY

The Romanian Diplomatic Institute (RDI), along with International Women’s Association of Bucharest (IWA), have organized, on the 4th of March 2019, ”Mărțișor to a LADY”, an event dedicated to the contemporary lady diplomat and to her challenges, as well as to mărțișor tradition.

The gathering, held under the statement ”Discovering Romania”, was aimed, primarily, at deciphering the role and the importance of the woman in the diplomatic service. H.E. Mr. Søren Jensen, Ambassador of Denmark to Romania, H.E. Mr. Salah Eldin Abdel Sadek Ahmed, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Romania, and H.E. Mr. Thanglura Darlong, Ambassador of India to Romania, have depicted the portrait of the woman as a diplomat, from the angle of their professional experience.

Subsequently, Ms. Nicoleta Turliuc, Professor of the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences within ”Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași, and Ms. Geanina Cucu-Ciuhan, Professor of the Faculty of Education, Social Sciences and Psychology within University of Pitești, have presented the feminine archetypes and the predicaments which the woman confronts nowadays, regarding her social and professional and integration.

The participants to ”Mărțișor to a LADY” have been acquainted to the tradition of mărțișor, included in the UNESCO heritage in 2017, with the assistance of Anamaria Iuga, expert ethnologist of the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant, and experimented the process of handmaking their own mărțișor.
